Reground is a program divert ground coffee waste from landfill in Melbourne. They educate the community on waste resources and help the coffee industry contribute the environment. The process is very simple: they provide cooperate cafe shops with a special bin, then pick up when it’s full with coffee waste, and finally transport those leftover to the farm straight away. Until now, this program has saved 40 tonnes ground coffee. Those waste serves as a sow-release source of nitrogen for fertilising after being composted. If they add up to 30% of ground coffee to the soil will increase yield and antioxidant levels in crops. Thirdly, with the worms breading down coffee grounds and turns it into liquid fertiliser.
