The ALS Association is an American nonprofit organization that raises money for research and patient services for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis. ALS association.

The ALS Association organizes a range of activities to raise funds for ALS patients and patient experience. One of the most famous is Ice Bucket Challenge. Meanwhile, the donated money from other activities like marathons will be used for research and medical services.
